Why would you need higher NRR numbers indoors? When you are shooting outdoors the sound disperses over an open area, so it goes away quickly. Underneath a roof, the sound reverberates and takes more time to dissipate. Therefore, you require more protection indoors than you do outdoors.

NRR above 28 is our suggestion for such situations, which will give you double-digit numbers in noise reduction.

In outdoors, you would need a bit more sound passage through the earpieces to interpret your environment properly. So, you should aim for lower NRR numbers when you are picking an ear-pro for your open-air adventures. 23-28dB is our preferred range of NRR for outdoors, as we feel they strike the perfect balance between safety and awareness.
